Im sure there are many times that you have stared at someone in a wheelchair, a person the same age as you walking about the street with a teddy bear and acting like a child. There are times that maybe you have even sniggerd and made fun of the person with your friends. You’d be lying if you said differently and I’m hpoing that a little bit deeper you felt bad about doing so.

I know I have.

One of my cousins is in a wheelchair with cerebal palsy, one of my very good friends is also in a wheelchair but her condition is a lot worse than my cousin. She can’t speak and she is has very limited movement, but give her her msn and she is one of the funniest most caring people I have ever come across in my life. I also work with many different types of disabilities with chidren from the age of 3 months right the way up to they turn 16 and each and everyone of them are a star. 

There was a time not that long ago, that me and my friend where out watching one of our closest friends doing a show. He was singing with his pal and he was dressed up as a woman singing and dancing his wee heart out. He was phenomanl but we all know who really stole the show that night. That’s right, it was me and Steph. We danced the night away took a million pictures and got the whole place up singing and dancing at the break. It truly was an amazing night. When everyone was leaving many people came up to me to tell me that i was an inspiration to many..

I guess I’ve just grown immune to the bit of metal that acts as their legs.

I just wish that people wouldn’t stare, or even if they held a door open would be nice.
Steph is a best friend for life, wheelchair or not. If anything the wheelchair has taught her who her true friends are in life. I would just like to thank her for letting me be part of her life and showing me that life is just one big party <3
